A SPOOKTACULAR Halloween!

~ Fun was had by all on Halloween in our classroom!  We enjoyed our walk over to Hallmark Care Center where we showed off our costumes and sang some Halloween carols for the residents there.  We brought lots of smiles to our new friends at Hallmark!  We enjoyed yummy treats and apple juice provided by some of our families (thank you!) and had fun listening to stories and playing games.  It was also fun parading through the elementary gym in our costumes!  A big thank you goes out to all families for helping make this yet another fun and memorable event at Washington Elementary School!  Happy Halloween!

Introducing Alyssa... Our Class Tree

~ As part of our kindergarten science unit on trees and how they change with the seasons, each class adopted a class tree on or around our playground.  Our class took great pride in our tree and wanted to name her, and so that we did.  After brainstorming a few names, our class voted on "Alyssa".  Her full name is "Alyssa Buddette Maple Tree"! Little did we know when we chose her as our tree what a gift she would be to us; not to mention the whole community!  Take a look at the photos which demonstrate just how much she changed from when we first adopted her until now...  a real beauty with so much to teach us all!  Enjoy...

The kids had so much fun watching Alyssa go through her autumn changes!  We would go outside periodically and record her changes in our science journals...

WE Walk Together!

~ The entire Washington Elementary School had a blast at our annual WE WALK fundraising event.  Our school worked together to raise over $17, 000!  Way to go, Boys and Girls!  We had so much fun walking, skipping and even dancing around the track on the actual WE WALK day in October!  Enjoy a few pictures of this fun and memorable event...

  • counting chocolate chips
  • playing the "Who Stole the Cookie From the Cookie Jar?" name game
  • drawing and writing about our favorite cookies for a class book
  • doing the "cookie dance"!
  • and our favorite...  enjoying COOKIE TASTE TESTING!!!  After tasting sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and Oreos, our class vote and graph revealed chocolate chip cookies as the overall favorite!  YUM!

Introducing "Stanzi the Guinea Pig"...

~ You may recall reading about "Stanzi the Guinea Pig" in my profile.  Well, although she lives at home with my family when school is not in session, she lives in Room 412 with our class during the school year!  She is a wonderful little guinea pig and really makes our classroom a special place to be!  So today was the big day!  We clipped her nails, gave her a bath and cleaned her cage.  Then we delivered her to our classroom!  She was so happy to be back!  Enjoy the pictures from her big day!  Stanzi and I can't wait to see you all soon!   ~ Mrs. Moore
