A Month of Native American Learning
The Kindergarten Friendship Feast was just one of the many meaningful parts of our November unit on Native Americans and Thanksgiving. Students enjoyed learning about some of the traditions, as well as some of the everyday knowledge we have gained from Native Americans which we tend to take for granted. (i.e. how to make a boat float, how to make an bow fly straight) We also enjoyed reading in our classroom teepee and learned about other styles of Native American homes. However, perhaps our favorite activity during this unit was simply sitting around our classroom "campfire" listening to stories and singing songs. November was yet another rewarding month of learning together...
